Situation in environmental health

Situation in environmental health is ever-changing, especially nowadays with many new challenges. Therefore Tartu Health Care College invited everyone to participate an online conference on May 4-6 to put the real environmental health situation on the scale and see how we could overcome these challenges, survive and thrive in these changing times.

The head organizer of the 4th world academic conference on environmental health “The Real Situation in Environmental Health - Challenges and Solutions”, Anna-Liisa Tamm explained that the topics of the conference related to environmental health in a changing world, in addition to specialists related to environmental health, will actually address everyone. She also told that college teachers are looking forward to the workshops "Lets teach together!" and “Lets research together!” to find partners for teaching important common topics, sharing information and finding collaborators for applied research.

The conference focused on different themes from global warming, sustainability and greenwash to 5G networks, smart cities and new solutions. One important subject is COVID-19: among others Francesca Racioppi, the Head of Office at WHO European Centre for Environment and Health talked about COVID-19 and environmental aspects. There were altogether four session: urban health, public health, climate change and environmental health profession in global challenges today.

The event took place as an online conference to give as many people as possible the chance to attend the congress without exposing them to health risks.

The International Federation of Environmental Health (IFEH) works to disseminate knowledge concerning environmental health and promote co-operation between countries where environmental health issues are transboundary. Amongst other things, the federation seeks to provide means of exchanging information and experience on environmental health, to hold congresses and meetings to discuss subjects relevant to environmental health science and administration, to represent the interests of environmental health to state agencies, national governments and international organizations and to promote field studies of environmental health control.

After “Urban Health” (Portugal, 2015), “One Health” (Jamaica, 2017) and “Environmental Health: a cornerstone to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals” (Uganda, 2019), the 4th conference “The Real Situation in Environmental Health - Challenges and Solutions” was organized by Tartu Health Care College, Estonia.
