Midwifery

The aim of the curriculum is to prepare midwives for an internationally regulated profession so that they can be employed as an independent professional or as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team. On completion of the curriculum the graduate knows how to plan, implement, evaluate and record midwifery and nursing care in various fields of health care, keeping also in mind the needs of the individual, family and society.

Language of instruction: Estonian

The midwifery qualification provides the graduate with the competences to practice as a midwife as well as a general nurse. The curriculum consists of eight basic modules:

  • professional and personal development
  • orientation to the profession
  • public health
  • pharmacology
  • human health
  • maternity care
  • clinical nursing care
  • maternity care II and primary health care
